Using neural nets to replace physical optics and imaging systems.
The Unconventional Imaging Group work on methods for imaging light, sound and vibration using a neural network, building new sensors which can do things conventional sensors just can’t do.
With applications in everything from microscopes to satellites to cars and seismic the UIG are working a rich seam of sensor innovation.
Current projects run under this team are:
Wide area sensing
Being able to see a wide area with full focus is a challenge for conventional optics. Light weight multispectral sensors for satellites and drones is the main focus of this project.
Beyond Super Microscopy
Learning to image at the sub optical level using unconventional imaging systems is the goal of this project. Using techniques developed by the UI Group this project is building and experimenting with new imaging systems for research and industry.
